Dr. Gross emphasizes a whole-body approach to dentistry, focusing on the connection between oral health and overall well-being. His practice offers services such as mercury-free restorations, ozone therapy, laser dentistry, and alternatives to traditional root canals. He advocates for the use of biocompatible materials and provides treatments like SMART mercury amalgam removal, metal-free implants, and non-surgical gum disease therapies.
Dr. Gross earned his dental degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in 1979. He completed his residency at Lutheran Medical Center and furthered his training at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. He also served as an Assistant Professor of Oral Pathology at Columbia University and provided counsel to the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office.
After the events of 9/11 all but destroy their Tribeca loft in New York City, Lewis and Tracey Gross and their three coming of age sons relocate to their summer home in Montauk in the East Hamptons. Tracey loves to cook and has always dreamed of starting her own restaurant. Their goal is to turn a run-down ice cream parlor into a functional restaurant that serves substantial honest fare.
“Montauk Tango” captures what it means to rebuild a life from ruins—literally and emotionally. After 9/11, the Gross family’s plunge into the unpredictable world of the Hamptons restaurant scene is both hilarious and moving. The writing is sharp, the stories feel real, and the sense of place is unforgettable. It’s a memoir with soul, spice, and a lot of heart.
